Spot the road the contest
Oct 23rd
Yes. You heard it right. The Delhi roads at some places gone so bad, that one can hardly spot the road.
The West Delhi commuters have been going through a bad phase ever since the roads next to the Janak Sethu (Delhi Cantt) started breaking up three months back. There is a 50 meter stretch on either side of this road where the road appears to be almost like dug up. Vehicles come down to a speed of 5km and struggle to avoid any major holes. It is life threatening to two wheeler riders, but its surprising that in last 3 months there hasn’t any move from the government.
The road at Janak Sethu connects the people from areas like Janakpuri, Vikaspuri, Tilak Nagar, Hari Nagar, Paschim Vihar etc to Central and South Delhi.
There has been no move from the Delhi Government officials until now. As usual, they appear to be waiting for a tragedy to happen before taking an action. I wonder if the contest like spot the road, will be able to bring out any winner at all.

Dilli Haat, Pitampura
Oct 3rd
Dilli Haat at Pitampura is a descent place to visit and defintely one good option for the people living in west Delhi. For long time west Delhi was missing somthing like this. At the this time of high prices, a descent place with only Rs 10 per adult entry fee for family man to spend the weekend comes as a blessing for Delhi.
Parking – Good parking with a low fee of Rs 15 for 3 hours. The parking guys are bit tricky, they charge you Rs 20 upfront and tell you to get Rs 5 if you are exiting within 3 hours. The guy at the exit will not return this balance until you ask for it, as he did with us. He made us wait in the side for few minutes when we insisted on getting the balance to check his reaction.
Ticket Counter – Tickets were easily accessible at a low fee of Rs 10 for adults and Rs 5 for kids.
Toilets - Toilets are neat and clean. There are even pay toilets, if someone looking for more luxury experience.
Stalls – Stalls from various craftsmen who have comein from different parts of the country are showcased over here. There are beautiful stalls for Indian crafts and food bazaar.
Review : Movietime, Pacific Mall, Pitampura, Delhi
Oct 3rd
The visit today to Movietime Pitampura gave a mixed taste. The only good thing was that unlike other theatres in Delhi, it doesn’t hit your pocket hard. I visited today to watch the Rajnikanth starrer Robot (ENDHIRAN / ENTHIRAN). As the theatre was not so popular among the movie watchers, which i later figured out why, getting a ticket was very easy as soon as i walked into the counter. A ticket here costed only 300 for two people. The ticket also included a Rs 50 coupon for a free coke & popcorn combo.
Though the Movietime theatre looked neat from inside, the Mall was a mess. With dust, dirt, broken window glass pieces and on top of that the AC doesn’t operate in the Mall area. So one doesn’t have AC until you are allowed to enter the theatre (which is only 10 minutes before the movie starts). I was surprised to see a Mall in such a bad state with not even a single shop operating in a Mall which gets descent crowd during weekends.
When we entered the Audi, the Hall looked promising. Good AC, descent screen size, good sound system and descent seating. There was little bit of foul smell inside the Audi which got fixed when a theatre boy sprayed freshner all around the Audi.
Like the movie and theatre was good only in the first half. Towards the end of the movie, i realised that the AC was switched off half an hour before the show ended. This made it very difficult to sit there until the end of the movie.
The exit from the theatre is horrible. The exit door’s leads to the dirty stair cases which has not been cleaned for ages. There was a huge pile of waste piled up, on the exit staircases. The walk further till the exit on the Mall is shear mess and adds to one’s agony.

Should CWG Commitee approach Consumer Court?
Sep 26th
The biggest question which arises in everyone’s mind today after seeing all the CWG fiasco related news, it to bring the culprits to justice. Be it missing deadlines, using sub standard products, falling foot bridges, breaking roads, caving in roads, faulty stadium roofs, filthy toilets, filethy conditions at CWG Village (khel gaon delhi ), sub standard beds and the list goes on.
The common man who pays his had earned money as tax is watching eagerly and waiting for the CWG to be over, before they start asking the questions to the government for the answers.
Its high time when the government wakes up and starts understanding the importance of the tax payers money. If Indian counts itself as developed country, then its time to become transparent about the use of Tax payers money.

Transgenic Brinjal: Good or Bad
Feb 10th
The introduction of Bacillus Thuringiensis Brinjal, popularly known as Bt brinjal in India, is still in the middle of debate. This is a genetically modified strain of the non-transgenic Brinjal promoted by India’s top seeds company Mahyco (Maharashtra Hybrid Seed Company) in collaboration with an US based transnational Monsanto and their aim is to improve the yields by a significant extent and also help the agricultural sector.
French scientist Professor Gilles-Eric Seralini of the Committee for Independent Research and Information on Genetic Engineering (CRIIGEN), carried out the first ever independent assessment of Monsanto-Mahyco’s report on toxicity tests submitted to the Indian regulatory authorities.
Seralini found many heath impact on not only the human and animal life but also on environment. He found :
It involves the insertion of a gene from the soil bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis into the DNA or genetic code of the Brinjal to produce pesticidal entotoxins in every cell. This toxin can induce antibiotic resistance in the vegetable cells.
this is a major health problem and is inappropriate for commercial use. Bt brinjal have 15 percent less calories and consists of different kinds of alkaloids compared to non-GM brinjal. It contains 16-17 mg/kg Bt insecticide toxin. When fed to animals, effects were observed on blood with significant differences according to the sex of the animal or period of measurement. Other effects were also found on blood clotting time (prothrombin), total bilirubin (liver health), and alkaline phosphate in goats and rabbits.
Changes in lactating cows were observed in increased weight gain, intake of more dry roughage matter and milk production up by 10-14 percent as if they were treated by a hormone.
Rats fed Bt brinjal had diarrhoea, increased water consumption, decrease in liver weight, and liver to body weight. Feed intake was modified in broiler chickens. But in anyhow, there are arguments in favour of its introduction, and there are strong reasons for refusing the approval of Bt brinjal. If it get approved then the Bt Brinjal would be the first genetically modified food in India.
